One bad pitch can cause an uproar

A few weeks ago during a regular season baseball game between the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers a benches clearing brawl broke out. The pitcher for the Dodgers, Zack Greinke, and the Padres left fielder at bat, Carlos Quentin, have had a not so friendly past with one another. Greinke has pegged Quentin multiple times over his career. Quentin, who is known for commonly being hit by pitches because he stands very close to the plate while at bat, assumed that Greinke hits him on purpose. While Quentin was walking to first after being hit by the pitch, Greinke was clearly muttering something about the situation under his breath.  Quentin being fed up with it decided to charge the mound. When Quentin reached Greinke, he attempted to tackle him. In the process, he fractured Zack Greinke’s  left collar bone. The two would eventually be ejected from the game after the brawl between both team was eventually stopped. Carlos Quentin was later handed an eight game suspension but unfortunately for Zack Greinke he will be unable to play for six to eight weeks because of his injury that required surgery. In the end, this looked bad on the end of both teams. The media has been blowing up this fight for multiple days now and professionals all over the baseball world have been negatively criticizing the two teams for what happened. Quentin, who is a huge offensive and defensive player maker for the Padres is forced to sit for eight games all because he lost his temper over something that has happened to him countless amounts of times. The real loser in this situation is the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers paid $147 million this offseason to obtain Zack Greinke from free agency. Now that they have paid him, they are forced to watch him sit on the bench as he rehabs and watches his teammates play and as another pitcher replaces him in the starting pitching rotation.  In general, this does not look good on behalf of the Padres.  Their player lost control and caused a huge fight.  No one wants their team to look like a bunch of crazy fighting banchees.  The ESPN world lit up with this news and is finally just now dying down.  Both coaches made a statement, but the Dodgers coach’s statement was quite angry.  He said that Quentin should not be able to play until Greinke was healed.  The Dodgers coach’s statement was short and did not say much on the matter.  The Twitterverse blew up as well with all of the ESPN sports casters getting into heated debates about the matter.  Something as silly as getting hit with a ball created a giant argument between the ESPN world in general.
